Aidan is 5 months old / Aidan estah com 5 meses

English version: Time does fly... Aidan just turned 5 months this past Saturday (August 29). In such a short period, he has grown and adapted to so much. His recent changes include:
(a) Getting used to his new routine now that his Mom is back to work.
(b) Being under the care of his God-Mother Rachelle for part of the time Mom is on campus, teaching. As described in a previous blog post, in the first week, he was emotionally reactive, wanting to stay near his Mom or Dad all the time, and getting fussy when left "alone" with his God-Mother. This week (second week), he has been more peaceful: he threw a brief crying fit 10 minutes before Mom had to leave, but was easily comforted by his Mom and then peacefully went to check out the trees with his God-Mother while she carried him in the BabyBjorn. ;-)
(c) Aidan also started producing consonant sounds - not a classic babbling yet, but maybe practicing for it? ;-)
(d) He has been sitting up almost independently while exploring one of his favorite body parts - his toes (see photos).
(e) Aidan is also very communicative when it comes to clearly expressing his dislikes - hehehe. One good illustration is when he's placed on his stomach for "Tummy Time." Oh boy... Does he get impatient? See in this short video clip below (left) how cute he sounds when he's getting frustrated. Aidan, we looove how emotionally expressive you are!!! :-)
(f) Lastly, Aidan is beginning to develop an interest toward his pacifier... Check out, in the other video clip below (right), how he takes the pacifier offered by his Mom and then brings it to his mouth.

Versao portugues: O tempo voa mesmo... Aidan acabou de completar 5 meses de vida sabado passado (29 de Agosto). Num periodo tao curtinho de vida ele ja cresceu e se adaptou a tantas coisas. Suas mudancas mais recentes incluem:
(a) Se acostumar `a sua nova rotina agora que sua Mae voltou ao trabalho tempo integral.
(b) Ficar sob os cuidados de sua Madrinha Rachelle por parte do tempo enqto. a Mamae estah no campus universitario, dando aula. Tal como descrito em blog anterior, a primeira semana ele reagiu querendo ficar proximo da Mae ou do Pai o tempo todo, e choramingando qdo. "sozinho" com a Madrinha dele. Essa semana (segunda semana), ele tem estado bem mais tranquilo: deu uma berradinha 10 minutos antes da Mamae ter que sair, mas a Mamae conseguiu acalma-lo rapidamente e ele foi olhar as arvores no jardim com a Madrinha enqto. ela o carregava no "Canguru."
(c) Aidan tambem passou a produzir sons de consoantes - nao eh o balbucio classico ainda, mas talvez esteja praticando para o mesmo? ;-)
(d) Ele tem ficado sentadinho quase que independentemente enquanto explora uma das suas partes favoritas do corpo - seus dedos do pe (ver fotos acima).
(e) Aidan eh tambem muito comunicativo quando eh para expressar o que nao gosta - rsrsrsrs. Um bom exemplo eh quando colocamos Aidan de barriguinha para baixo. Eita... Serah que ele fica arretado? Vejam que fofura Aidan se arretando - ver video clip abaixo no lado esquerdo. Aidan, nos amaaaaaaaaaaaaaamos o quao expressivo vc eh!!!! :-)
(f) Ultima novidade: Aidan estah comecando a se interessar pela chupeta... Vejam, no outro video clip abaixo no lado direito, como Aidan pega a chupeta oferecida pela Mamae e a traz (a chupeta, claro) para a boca.

On a different note, Aidan has been very good to his Dad and God-Mother while his Mom went back to work last Friday (August 21). He had his Mom's breast milk through the bottle and even took his little naps. Next day, however, Aidan was a bit fussy and didn't want to be too far away from his Mom. The same is happening today (Wednesday) - the day after his Mom went back to the campus (without Aidan) to teach. Coincidence? We know it is just a matter of time for our sensitive sweet guy to get used to his new routine! :-)

Mudando de assunto, Aidan tem sido super bonzinho com o Papai e a Madrinha desde que Mamae voltou ao trabalho 6a-feira passada (21 de Agosto). Tomou leite materno pela mamadeira e ate tirou umas sonequinhas! No entanto, no dia seguinte, Aidan ficou mais irritadinho e nao queria sair de junto de sua Mae. A mesma coisa estah acontecendo hoje (4a-feira) - uma dia apos a Mamae ter ido ao campus universitario (sem Aidan) para dar aula. Coincidencia? Sabemos que eh apenas uma questao de tempo ate que o nosso fofinho se acostume com sua nova rotina! :-)

English version: It's been only 10 days and we have so much to share. I'll try to be brief.

On August 9, we went out to have brunch with our adult cousins from Colorado - Joan & Jeffrey and their children, Amy and Brandon. The food was delicious, the weather was fantastic and the company was the best! Aidan sat on Joan's lap for a little while and also tried out Ryan's (his baby cousin) Bumbo seat. Since Aidan liked the seat supporter, we, of course, bought him a similar one called BebePOD.

No dia 9 de Agosto, fomos comer um "brunch" (cafe da manha-almoco) com uns primos do Colorado - Joan & Jeffrey e seus filhos, Amy e Brandon. A comida estava uma delicia, o tempo fantastico e a companhia nao poderia ser melhor! Aidan ficou no colo de Joan por um tempinho e experimentou o assentinho de Ryan (seu priminho mais novinho) e gostou. Como era de se esperar, compramos um assentinho para Aidan chamado BebePOD.

English version: Lately, as Cole and Daisy find the courage to get closer to Aidan, we have been able to take some photos of them. These ones of Daisy napping near Aidan while Cole and Aidan, with the help of Dad, play with Cole's toy were taken on August 11. Cole even allowed Aidan to touch him. And look how cute Aidan looking at Cole and Cole looking at his little toy.
Versao Portugues: Ultimamente, na medida que Cole e Daisy criam mais coragem para se aproximarem de Aidan, temos achados mais oportunidades de fotografar Aidan com eles. Essas fotos de Daisy tirando uma soneca proxima de Aidan enqto. Cole e Aidan, com a ajuda do Papai, brincam com a bolinha de Cole foram tiradas no dia 11 de Agosto. Cole ate deixou Aidan tocar nele. E vejam que fofura Aidan olhando para Cole bem como Cole olhando para a bolinha.

English version: On August 12, Aidan and I took the Amtrak train to Orinda to spend the night with GrandPa Garvey and GrandMa Linda. The 1 hour ride was comfortable and fun: Aidan could look out the window at the trees and when he got hungry, I could nurse him while the train continue to get us closer and closer to Orinda (instead of pulling over to nurse him). Next day, we took the train back to Sacramento and had another smooth ride home. As an added bonus: the train made a nice and repetitive noise that Aidan appreciated! Needless to say, I recorded the train's engine noise after we arrived in Sacramento using my iPhone. ;-)

Versao Portugues: No dia 12 de Agosto, eu e Aidan pegamos o trem Amtrak para Orinda e passamos a noite na casa do Vovo Garvey e Vovo Linda. A viagem de 1 hora foi super comfortavel e divertida: Aidan pode ficar olhando as arvores pela janela e qdo. ele ficou com fome, pude amamenta-lo enqto. o trem continuavaandando e chegando mais proximo de Orinda (ao inves de ter que parar o carro para amamenta-lo). No dia seguinte, pegamos o trem de volta para Sacramento e, mais uma vez, fizemos uma viagem tranquila. Como bonus, o trem faz um barullhinho repetitivo que Aidan gostou! Obviamente, ao descer do trem, gravei tal som no meu iPhone. ;-)

English version: On August 14, Aidan, his Godmother Rachelle and I went to my hair salon for my haircut. While there, he was a sweet heart and even allowed Tracie (my esthetician) hold him (see photo below)... Clever Tracie held him up in front of a mirror so Aidan could enjoy seeing the pretty baby in front of him. ;-)

In the afternoon, we all (Rachelle, Brian and I) went to Aidan's 4-month doctor's appointment. Dr. Isakson examined him and congratulated us for keeping him healthy and strong. Can you believe that Aidan is already 26 inches long and 16lbs1oz ((75% of growth percentile for height and 61% of growth percentile for weight)? And yes, Gracie, all of this growth on mother's milk only! Hehehe ;-)

Aidan then got his second-round of shots while Daddy held him, Mommy held his hand, and Godmother Rachelle watched the needles go in, ready to shake a toy to distract Aidan. He cried, of course, but was easily distracted by his family "clan" within a few minutes. He then nursed and fell asleep. Such a wonderful boy!!!

Aidan has also been extremely interested in what we eat for almost a month now. Dr. Isakson said this is a clear sign he's ready for a gradual introduction of solid foods. So, today, Aidan had 1/8 of a banana, smashed very well and served on a porcelain bowl that used to be his Daddy's when he was a baby. How cute is that? (see photo sequence below)

What a 10-day period, loaded with adventures, huh?

Versao Portugues: No dia 14 de Agosto, eu, Aidan e sua Madrinha Rachelle fomos para o salao para eu cortar meu cabelo. La, ele foi um amorzinho e ate deixou Tracie (a que faz minha limpeza de pele e depilacao) segura-lo (ver foto abaixo)... Tracie foi muito esperta e ficou segurando Aidan na frente de um espelho para que ele se divertisse com o bebe lindo que estava na frente dele. ;-)

`A tarde, fomos todos (eu, Rachelle e Brian) para a consulta de Aidan de 4-meses com o pediatra. Dr. Isakson examinou Aidan direitinho e nos parabenizou por mante-lo tao sadio e forte. Vcs acreditam que Aidan ja estah com 7,28kg e 66cm de altura? E eh verdade, Gracie, esse crescimento todo apenas se alimentando no leite materno! Hehehe ;-)

Aidan tambem tomou a segunda sequencia de suas vacinas, enqto. o Papai segurava ele, a Mamae seguravasua maozinha e sua Madrinha observava atentamente as agulhas, mas pronta para chacoalhar um brinquedinho para distrair Aidan. Ele chorou, claro, mas foi rapidamente acalmado com as distracoes de sua "ganng" familiar. Ai ele amamentou por uns minutos e pegou no sono! Que menino mais maravilhoso!!!

No ultimo mes, Aidan passou a ficar bastante interessado no que comemos, olhando atentamente qdo. comemos algo. Dr. Isakson disse que isso eh um sinal de que ele estah pronto para comecarmos a introduzir, gradativamente, purezinhos de frutas e verduras. Ai, hoje, Aidan comeu 1/8 de uma banana bem amassadinha, servida no pratinho de porcelana que era de seu Papai qdo. era um bebezinho... Nao eh uma fofura? (ver sequencia de fotos abaixo).

Que 10 dias regados de aventura, hein?

Andrea's 37th B-Day / Aniversario de 37 anos de Andrea

English version: Here a few additional pictures taken today at Garcia Bend Park. We (Brian, Aidan, Cole, Daisy and my self - bday girl) had our lunch there, picnic style. Aidan was fascinated by the moving leaves and the plaid pattern on the picnic blanket. Cole and Daisy were sweet and well-behaved, as usual. What a nice way to celebrate 37 years of life as a woman and 4 months of life as a mother. :-) The short video clip below was taken as Aidan enjoyed his fingers while watching the leaves move.

English version: Oops... I just found some photos of Aidan when he was 3 months that I still had in my other camera. These photos were taken when we went to the public pool to celebrate his cousin's, Lucas, 3rd birthday. Aidan is with Dad offering him a cupcake, with Grandma Linda, Lucas (b-day boy) is with his mom (Brian's sister-Kate), and there's also a photo of Aidan and his baby cousin Ryan, who's only 3 weeks younger than Aidan.
