Pregnancy Progress / Progresso da Gravidez

ENGLISH VERSION: We have reached our 12th week of pregnancy. A lot of transformation has taken place: the embryo (now a fetus) is completely formed with all organs and structures in place (although small). Sexual differentiation already occurred (probably around the 7th-8th week of gestation), but we can't see it through the ultrasound yet. But as soon as we find out the sex, we'll certainly share it here with you all! :-)

We've done a series of standard blood tests to check our health. All is going well: I'm well hydrated with all nutrients in check. Of course, I also continue to take my prenatal vitamins. No risk for gestational diabetes and no STDs... Yes, they test for nearly everything! (hee hee) We also got tested for recessive genetic disorders that are prevalent in our ethnic groups: nothing found!

In the month of September, we had two ultrasounds: one on September 3, 2008 and another on September 16, 2008. In both occasions, the baby was quite active, moving a lot and, wow, a lot of rapid growth taking place in a few weeks!

We share here some ultrasoun images (above) and a short video clip I took during our second ultrasound (below). The estimated due date: April 1, 2009 (the birthday of my Brazilian nephew, Gabriel).

Muitas transformações acontecendo: o embrião (agora considerado feto) está completamente formado com todos orgãos e estruturas no seu lugar (apesar de pequenos em tamanho). Diferenciação sexual já ocorreu (provavelmente durante a 7a-8a semana de gestação), mas não podemos ver ainda o sexo através da ultrasom. Mas assim que decobrirmos, vamos partilhar aqui com todos!!!

Temos feito uma bateria de testes de sangue para checar nossa saúde. Tudo indo bem: Estou bem hidratada e com todos nutrients necessários… Claro que também continuo tomando meu complexo multivitamínico específico para gestantes e lactantes! Sem risco de diabete gestacional e nenhuma doença sexualmente transmissível… Pois é, eles testam só tudo (hee hee)!!! Testamos também para distúrbios genéticos de ordem recessiva mais prevalentes em nossa etnia: nada encontrado! :-)

No mês de Setembro, tivemos duas sessões de ultrasom: uma no dia 3 de Setembro e a outra no dia 16 de Setembro de 2008. Em ambas, o bebê estava bem ativo, movendo-se bastante… e uau, que crescimento rápido em apenas duas semanas! A data estimada de nascimento: 1 de Abril de 2009 (o mesmo dia de aniversário de meu sobrinho Gabriel).
